Aircraft bleed air leak detection sensing elements are thermal elements installedaround the hot air ducts. The elements continuously monitor the condition around theducts. Once they detect leaking air, they will send a ground signal to the control unit. Atthe same time, the crew will receive an audio and visual warning. The relative bleed airsystem will be isolated to ensure the good condition of the equipment around the ducts.This paper analyzed the factors that affected the feature of sensing elementsthrough building a model of the insulating material of the sensing elements. It got therelationship between the resistance of the material and temperature, humidity andfrequency. The requirement of troubleshooting can be met by repeatedly measuring thebridge circuit to locate the fault of the elements. The method of locating faults byevaluating the equivalent resistance ratio of the elements can meet the locationrequirement of some faults. Through the pulse reflection principle, the paper studies therelated function algorithms on locating the fault of the sensing elements. It alsosimulates the algorithms on the fault location.The result of this paper provides technicians with instructive recommendations. Italso can save the time of troubleshooting, improve efficiency and reduce the rate ofdelayed departure. And at the same time, it provides manufactures with practical basison the follow-up services.
