The inlet conduit is the transition section between the fore bay and the pump. The function of which is to enable the water flow into the pump impeller chamber can be better steering and accelerating, to meet the requirements of Hydraulic design conditions. The bad flow situation in the inlet conduit will lead to the phenomena of dropping flow or others, thereby affecting the water pump device performance. In order to get better performance, designing a more reasonable parameters to obtain better water conduit flow regime is very necessary.The elbow inlet conduit is commonly used in the large and medium-sized pumping station. In this paper, numerical simulation is based on the geometric parameter of a pumping station. The equation of which is the N-S equation, the turbulence model of which is the RNG κ-ε model, the calculation method is the SIMPLEC calculation method. According to the different conditions of the pump for numerical simulation, we get the conclusion is that the internal flow pattern of the pump device, pressure distribution and the external characteristics of the pump. Compared with the calculation results and the experimental results, we find that the results between them are very closed, which is explaining that the numerical simulation is very reliable.In order to analyze the elbow inlet conduit of different geometric parameters have any different influences on the pump device, the paper by changing three chief basic parameters of the elbow inlet conduit for numerical simulation. Through numerical simulation we analyze the section flow field and the axial velocity distribution evenness of the impeller chamber import section and the efficiency and head of pump device of different program. The conclusion is that when designing the elbow inlet conduit, we can use the upper limit of the range of L/D and H/D, the range of B/D is2.256to2.5.
