Ro-ro ship is a special ship that carries cargo and tractor in freight vehicles. It candirectly pass in and out goods without special loaded container. The center of gravity of thisship is high, so it inevitably swings seriously influenced by wind, waves and ocean currents.Among them, waver is of the most serious dangerous. So it is necessary to set specialanti-rolling equipment. At present, antiroll fins and anti-rolling tanks have been widely used,but they are not enough. In order to meet the special requirements of the ro-ro ships’anti-rolling, this paper puts forward a new anti-rolling device based on the ETMD. The effectof the anti-rolling device and the parameter that affects the effect of the anti-rolling device areanalyzed. The optimal parameter is obtained.Firstly, design limited element model of ro-ro ship and analyze the model. According tothe ro-ro entity parameters, analyze the model which is produced by three-dimensional ro-roRoad mapping software UG and Solidworks. The dynamic characteristics and the dynamiccharacteristics of the ro-ro ship can be obtained.Secondly, the design of the ro-ro ship anti-rolling device is analyzed. According to thestructural characteristics of ro-ro ships, anti-rolling device can be designed based onprinciples of ETMD. It consists the main frame, support equipment, spring-damper systemand limit system components, including the standard components。Thirdly, the factors that affect the index of anti-rolling device are analyzed. The index ofanti-rolling device is determined and the regular pattern of the natural frequency, dampingratio, mass ratio and anti-rolling effect of variation between the measured index is analyzed.Choose the scope of the index when the parameter measuring anti-rolling effect is greater than0.8. The index of the springs and dampers is determined based on the scope.Fourthly, simulation analysis of Ro-ro ship anti-rolling effect. Analyze the change of theRo-ro ship with and without the anti-rolling devices using Adina limited element simulationsoftware and roll angle. Comparative analysis between the effect of the anti-rolling device and theoretical results are also talked. It is showed that the period of roll is basically identical andthe maximum rolling angle is very close. It can be convinced that the simulation results are ofhigh reliability.
