The coastal area of Southeast China is our country’s main typhoon prone areas. A large number of common houses, industrial buildings, commercial real estate and other low-rise buildings are distributed in this area. Previous wind disaster surveys indicate that most destroyed buildings in the disaster are low-rise buildings. Therefore it’s of great significance to carry out the research on wind resistance of low-rise buildings.In this paper, numerical simulation method is employed to study the wind pressure distributions on the roof of gable roofed buildings that with different wind angle, different overhang length and different arrangement mode. Firstly, Fluent software is using for numerical simulation of SSB model. The simulation results are compared with the measured data and the results of wind tunnel test, and the validity and accuracy of the numerical simulation are demonstrated. Secondly, a typical low-rise gable roofed building is selected as the reference model, and then the effect of overhang length on shape coefficient of wind load is studied. On that basis, the wind load characteristics of two low buildings are studied, and the variation rule of wind load shape coefficient is gained by changing the overhang length and arrangement mode. The obtained results indicate that the roof wind load shape coefficient absolute value will decrease with the increment of overhang length; the optimal arrangement is the serial and staggered arrangement for two low-rise gable roofed buildings.Lastly, a low-rise gable roofed building complex is established to study the effect of the spacing and arrangement of building complex on wind load shape coefficient. The obtained results indicate that the maximum wind load shape coefficient is concentrated in the roof of peripheral buildings, and order arrangement mode should be chosen as the plane layout of the low-rise building complex.
