The power system has witnessed a rapid increase in transmission capacity, size andcomplexity, which is caused by rapid economic and social development. Therefore, maintaining power system stability turns out one of the main concerns. The design ofadvanced and efficient control system to enhance the utilization rate of power systemequipment and to ensure the power system operation stability has become one of theimportant problems in the study of power system. In this thesis, the transient stability problems of single machine infinite bus system withThyristor Controlled Series Compensation(TCSC) are addressed with an approach based onthe Lyapunov theory and fuzzy adaptive backstepping control method. First of all, an indirectfuzzy adaptive backstepping control approach is applied for object system. The uncertainparameters and q axis transient electric potential measured inaccurately problems of thesystem have been taken into consideration. On second thought with external disturbances, storage functions of control system are constructed based on Lyapunov theory, fuzzy adaptivebackstepping control method and dissipation system theory. Then, the robust H_∞controller isobtained. At last, the robust controller and robust H_∞controller have been designed via theproposed modified indirect fuzzy adaptive backstepping method. The transient response speedand controller gain performance indicators of the system achieve comprehensive balance byusing class-K function.
