With the energy crisis becoming more and more serious, wind power generation technology ismore and more mature and plays a more and more proportion in electric power system. Because of it’snatural variability, wind power will more and more obviously impact the stability of power systemand even lead to the collapse of power system along with the wind power installed capacity increasingceaselessly in electric power system.It is an important factor that wind power output on the stability of the system shock currentlyrestricts the rapid development of wind power industry. If keeping the rapid development of windpower industry unceasingly, it is necessary to solve the problem of wind power to the grid. For thepresent situation of wind power fluctuation impacting the power system stable operation, this papergives a solution that each wind power unit in wind farm matches a group of all vanadium redox flowbattery (VRB) and uses VRB energy storage device to stabilize the wind power fluctuationimpacting the power system.This paper obtains the output characteristic of wind farm at the rated operating conditions basedon the MATLAB/Simulink constructed by double-fed wind generator of wind farm. Taking theIEEE-14node system as an example, this paper analyses the wind power fluctuation impacting theoperation stability of power system in steady state and transient state with the aid of PSASP.According to the wind power fluctuation impacting the stability of power system operationcondition, all vanadium redox flow battery (VRB) is used as the energy storage device for windpower unit. Through the research on the principle of VRB, a complete VRB model has been builtbased on Matlab/Simulink in VRB electrochemical reaction and the Nernst equation. With the aid ofPSASP in the UD function, VRB model is accessed to IEEE-14node system and the interface modelof power system with VRB model is designed. It enables the VRB model completely connect theIEEE-14system with wind power input.With the aid of PSASP software again, it is to calculated and analyzed the transient state ofIEEE-14system of wind power input with VRB energy storage. To observe the VRB stabilizingcondition after wind power fluctuation impacting the system status, to change the rated power of VRBsome times, and to watch the stabilized effect on each wind power fluctuation rate, the ratio between VRB and wind farm power is obtained by comparison.
