Now with all the attention to environmental problem, new energy vehicledevelopment has attracted more and more attention in the world. With high efficiency, highpower factor, high power density and other aspects of the advantages, the permanentmagnet synchronous traction motor is gradually becoming the driving system of electricautomobile and rail vehicle traction system of the main motor. As the new energy vehicleof dynamic core components, which directly determines the whole performance. Thermalmanagement as a key technology of permanent magnet synchronous motor has effect onthe safe running and the service life of the motorare. In order to ensure the safe andnormal operation of the motor, to accurately predict the motor temperature and reasonabledesigncooling system are very important.Firstly, according to fluid mechanics, heat transfer and other aspects of knowledge,the establishment of mathematical model of thermal calculation, determines every part ofheat conduction and heat dissipation coefficient, simplified model, which are used theequivalent thermal network for7.5kW air cooling and20kW water cooling of permanentmagnet synchronous motor; For the calculation of the temperature field of the motor, twoprototype of three-dimensional model were built by using the finite element softwareANSYS Workbench, the region and boundary of conditions, the heat generationrate,thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficientwere calculated.Secondly,the cooling structure of permanent magnet synchronous traction motor wasanalyzed, and compared the different cooling system of advantages and disadvantages. Thedesign and calculation of how to select the single spiral water cooling system parameters,Influences of different cooling boundary conditions on the temperature of the motor wascalculated.Finally, the7.5kW and20kW the permanent magnet synchronous traction motortemperature test platform were set up when the7.5kW motor under various load conditionsand the20kW motor under different cooling water entrance velocity. The experimentalresults were compared with the thermal network method and the finite element method calculation results, provides a calculating method and theory reference for the design of permanent magnet synchronous traction motor and temperature field calculation.
