Parts of this research is a lower control arm of a car, the material is7075aluminum alloy.This part was welded by six cast steels formerly, and there are several disadvantages in thismethod:(1)The material is cast steel which weight is bigger and is not conducive to resourceconservation.(2) Forming technology is welding that is prone to defects such as porosity andshrinkage, etc. In this text, the7075aluminum alloy replaces steel material and the isothermalprecision plastic forming technology replaces welding process to form parts on the basis ofthe existing equipment, which purpose is to eliminate weld defects and implement lightweighton the premise of guaranteeing the performance requirements. This paper has certainreference significance for forming and lightweight of many complex section parts.This topic proposed several different processing plan, and simulate extrusion process oflower control arm with Finite element numerical simulation software SIMUFACT. Accordingto the results of the simulation analysis, we analysis forming load, vector diagram of flowvelocity and defects of the process of forming, and preliminarily determine forming processscheme. Then we analysis, optimize and simulate the initial process program, analysisforming load, distribution of equivalent strain and vector diagram of flow velocity of theprocess of forming, and determine the final solution of the forming process, that is theblanking-perform1-perform2-forming. Finally the molds are designed.We design and manufacture molds based on the finite element numerical simulation, andthe results show that we can effectively reduce the forming load and reduce the requirementsfor production equipment; we can prevent defects such as Underhill and fold and so on; thedimensional accuracy surface of the work piece is higher after forming, Compared with thewelding production; We implement lightweight of the part when we produce work piece using isothermal precision plastic forming technology.
