Cable-stayed bridge has large spanning capacity and used widely in the important transportation project.On the one hand, Large span makes the seismic waves reach the piers in different times, thus these will have impact on the seismic response of large span cable-stayed bridge. On the other hand, cable-stayed bridge as the flexible structure with the obvious nonlinear characteristic and may lead to destruct by the reason of large displacement of structure or the change of the force distribution. Therefore, studying reaction by multi-point excitation and considering the nonlinear factors, which is correct and effective for seismic design, is very important for ensuring safety in seismic. This paper discussed modeling of large span cable-stayed bridge and analysis methods, as well as the response spectrum analysis theory and multi-point excitation theory of seismic response analysis. As an example of a large span cable-stayed bridge, using the finite element method to analyze the dynamic characteristics, consider the traveling wave effect and make a comparison with the seismic response of large span cable-stayed bridge under uniform excitation, and Study the effect of the traveling wave on the seismic response of large span cable-stayed bridge, the main contents of this article as follow:(1) Introduce large cable-stayed bridge structural characteristics.(2)Introduce the cable-stayed bridge finite element modeling methods, parameters setting methods and bridge theory, as well as calculate the natural frequencies and the corresponding modes.(3) Introduce the dynamic characteristics of cable-stayed bridge and seismic response analysis, using response spectrum analysis of multi-dimensional seismic response spectrum analysis on the cable-stayed bridge.(4) Conduct history analysis by direct acceleration method, and use high-mass method to conduct numerically analysis of cable-stayed bridge seismic response with multi-point excitation and comparative analysis of cable-stayed bridge response under uniform excitation, study influence of the wave effect on the seismic response of cable-stayed bridge.(5) Introduced the nonlinear factors of cable-stayed bridge, through a comparative analysis demonstrated the necessity of conducting nonlinear analysis on large span cable-stayed bridge.
