Inland shipping industry in our country develops rapidly, in which the golden waterway-Yangtze river has become the world’s largest inland water in traffic. The increase of the traffic is also accompanied by a rise in the number of ship, and navigation conditions are complicated, which all lead to the frequent happening of water traffic accidents, and threat to safety of people’s life and property. Human factors are the main reasons in water traffic accident, especially the ship driver factors. At present, there has a variety of research method in driver reliability home and abroad, but most of that are qualitative and in human-ship-environment system, and less in person’s behavior reliability. In order to reduce or avoid water traffic accidents directly and effectively, it needs to do further research in the ship driver behavior influent factors and ship driver behavior reliability.From the view of system engineering, guided by the Safety Ergonomics, traffic psychology, visual psychology, traffic engineering, system safety engineering and other multi-disciplinary theory, combining inland navigable environment status in our country, this article make a system analysis on human factor of inland water traffic, aimed at the ship’s safe probability through the evaluation of reliability of ship driving behavior. This paper studied the following:1) Summarized human factors in domestic and foreign traffic accidents and human reliability research so far, and included the research results and the existing research deficiency.2) Enumerates several typical ship driving behavior, analysis of the impact of ship driving behavior characteristic index, and the index probability estimation method.3) Compared GO model with fault tree analysis to fined the similarities and differences between them, elaborated the basic principle of GO method, and established GO model of ship driving behavior.4) Verified the operability of study methods and the effectiveness of perspective research by the empirical analysis.Analysis the ship navigation environment safety feature of China’s inland, especially main artery of the Yangtze River, defined the importance of researching the ship driving safety collision avoidance; Selected the trunk line of the Yangtze River, Wuhan section pilot as the research object, establish GO model for ship collision avoidance system, qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation of the ship’s reliability.5) For water traffic accident causes, combined with examples of evaluation results and the actual inspection, put forward some measures and suggestions targeted to improve ship driving behavior reliability.
