The cracks in asphalt pavement of the Yellow River Embankment is more harmful than the general pavement, the cracks not only affect the appearance of the dike, but also prejudice to the structural integrity and reduce the ability of dike to resist risks. Therefore, it has great significance to study the possible reasons of asphalt pavement crack, accordingly the study to develop the practical measures of preventing pavement cracking. In this paper, the transverse cracks of the Yellow River Embankment in Zibo, Shandong are considered the temperature field, car load and temperature-car load coupling under different climatic conditions, then using the finite element software to analysis the stress variation of every structure layer. Discuss the possible reasons of the asphalt pavement crack appearance, and then take the corresponding control measures. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Change laws of temperature field and the temperature stress field are considered in variety of climatic conditions, such as high temperatures in summer, cold weather in winter, a continuous high (low) temperatures, sudden drop in temperature in summer or winter.(2) Analysis the change laws of the pavement structure stress under the car load and the temperature and load coupling in winter and summer.(3) Analysis the change laws of the pavement structure temperature stress under freeze-thaw cycles.(4) Analysis the change laws of the pavement structure stress especially the surface layer stress by taking into account the impact of the pavement material properties and the thickness of the pavement structure stress.(5) Develop the practical measures to prevent the pavement transverse cracks of the dike.
