New materials are appearing,in design of structure form continuously innovation, which the country’s bridge construction level has advanced in the world. But with thestructure getting more and more bigger, softer and at the same time, some problems alsounderlines the importance gradually, such as the stability of bridge structure. In thispaper, take the Tianba bridge on the level-2zhaotong to qiaojia road in the yunnanprovince for engineering examples, combined with finite element analysis softwareMIDAS/CIVIL2010, the bridge pier, the largest body cantilever stage T structure andthe bridge stage began the research of the stability.First of all, this paper expounds the development of long span continuous rigidframe Bridges and its mechanical characteristics, then the stability of bridge structuretheory development history and the solution method launched introduced, includingstability of finite element analysis, and the energy method and instability evaluationindex.Secondly, with Midas establish the whole bridge model to analyze the structure ofthe static analysis. It also discusses the initial geometric imperfection on the structurestress influence. And then on the bridge were4#high piers of Construction stage, maximum cantilever stage T structure and bridge stage, in various load conditioncombination, the structure of the corresponding linear elastic stability analysis. Theanalysis results show that the stress of the bridge are reasonable and stability satisfy thestandard requirements, and security reserve is very large. Finally, discussed the initial geometric imperfection on the first kind of linearelastic stability and geometric nonlinear stability of the influence. Will the stabilitycoefficient and line that the stability of the elasticity coefficients are compared, and theresults indicated that the initial geometric imperfection of existence, the structurestability can be reduced, so in construction, should guarantee the pier verticalityconform to the standard.
