Since the power systems interconnection have further developed, electric connectionbetween various regions become increasingly complex and electromagnetic loop becomesmore and more general in the operation. Volt/var control problem in power system is not onlythe optimal control problem in the region, but also need to give consideration to thecoordination and control problem between regions of the same level and the upper and lowerlevel. It will be great importance to dispatch department how the multi-level dispatch centersoptimize reactive voltage coordination.First, this thesis reviews the practice experience and research achievements ofprovincial-local volt/var control in large-scale power systems. It analyzes and summarizes theproblems through the research status on the volt/var control and coordination of home andabroad power system, especially those of Guangdong Power Grid. The concept of VoltageControl Mismatch (VCM) has been replenished and deepened and moreover, Game Theoryand some related concepts are briefly introduced. Then the game essence of VCM problems islaborated. Two classical models in Game Theory are used to explain the rationality of usingGame theory to solve the VCM problems.Mathematical model of the game problem of provincial-local volt/var control in large-scalepower systems is proposed. Through qualitative analysis, how Nash Equilibriums in differentkinds of game impact the volt/var control results is analyzed. In order to analyzequantitatively, the mathematical model of Payoff function is built, which lay a solidfoundation on quantitative analysis of volt/var control game. The game method and payoff function model are applied to a500/220/110kV reginalnetwork in Guangdong Power Grid. In this example, Nash Equilibriums in different kinds ofgame are analyzed quantitatively. The result shows, if a check up system only requires theplayer to control their voltage profiles within the constraints, the VCM problems will beinevitable. Requiring the players to consider the voltage quality of gate ways can amelioratethe VCM problems in extreme operation conditions.A21-region chart-based revised volt/var control strategy is proposed based on Game Theory, the simulation result shows that the new control strategy has favourable practicalfoundation and control effect.
