Nowadays, the exhaustion of energy crisis and environmental pollution is becomingmore and more serious. As a kind of renewable large reserves and less pollution energy, thedevelopment and utilization of solar energy gets more and more people’s attention. It has beena hot spot that most countries compete against each other to develop, and has formed a certainscale of development.At the same time, with the development of technology and requirement of application,The communications system for photovoltaic(PV)inverter is also getting more and moreattention from researchers and manufacturers. The communication system must meet theapplication requirements of PV grid inverter with shorter response time, less errors, lowerpower consumption and good man-machine interface.This paper discussed details of all kinds of optional communication system for PVinverter, compared the advantages and disadvantages of those options, and designed a bettersolution for it. In more detail, this solution integrated three optional communication modes,SPI, RS485and Ethernet, into an AVR micro-controller (Atxmega256D3) which wastransplanted the uC/OS-II operating system, and designed a good PC program and userinterface for monitoring the PV grid inverter, parameters adjustment and parallel control, etc.This paper completed the design and implementation of the software and hardware for thecommunication system, and a reasonable function test and performance evaluation for thewhole solution.It will be a good foundation for continue study of PV grid inverter system andcommunication system.
