With the unfolding of ever-growing global "low-carbon revolution", Chinese industrial design field also puts forward the macro development goal of "low energy-consumption, low pollution and low emission". Among multiple high energy-consumption industries, unquestionably, ceramic products have unique and high quality, and are widely dependent on and hard to replace. Such famous brands as Kohler, American Standard Company and TOTO in ceramic sanitary equipment industry have been considering and addressing the issue of lowering energy consumption long ago. As entrusted by a high-technology enterprise in the west, this thesis unfolds analysis and study on designing and developing low-carbon sanitary equipment using basic materials of wollastonite.This thesis firstly gives an introduction of the category of current ceramic products, and summarizes the production methods in the manufacturing process of common ceramic sanitary equipment and its character of design, and points out the environmental issue brought by the irreversible design, production and usage of common ceramic sanitary equipment. Then the thesis focuses on the discussion of the formation type of the basic materials of wollastonite through deepened analysis and study on the production and design of low-carbon sanitary equipment with basic materials of wollastonite based on the research project with a university enterprise and tries to set up calculation formations of carbon emission and carbon tax in the whole production cycle of wollastonite-based sanitary equipment ad common ceramic sanitary equipment; at last, with the example of the most complicatedly-structuralized sanitary equipment-water closet, the thesis unfolds an overall comparison between the environmental performance of current common ceramic water closet and wollastonite water closet and confirms the advantage of the latter on carbon emission. The thesis also gives a design of wollastonite-based water closet using the technology of dry pressing, pouring cast and injection formation. Compared to the slip casting formation of traditional ceramics, wollastonite-based sanitary equipment has more room regarding the changeability and extensibility in molding and functions. The design scheme of wollastonite-based water closet referred to in the thesis adopts a square shape which has more diversity, and integrates a space for placing ordinary sanitary products and a low lighting system for the convenience of users at night to the closet body to provide possible solutions to diversified requirements of consumers on sanitary equipment. Meanwhile, this design also can be a reference to the design and development of other wollastonite-based sanitary equipment such as basins, bathtubs and bidet cleaners, etc.
