Matrix converter is a direct energy conversion device without dc-link energy storageelements.Any disturbance in the input voltages will be immediately reflected to the outputvoltages and influences the performance of matrix converter.It is necessary to analyze theperformance of matrix converter under the abnormal input conditions and take measures toreduce the impact on the matrix converter. First the basic principle of space vector modulationstrategy for matrix converter is briefly presented in the paper.Then its output voltage spectrumcharacteristic is estimated. The performance of matrix converter under the abnormal inputconditions is analyzed.To improve the output performance of matrix converter under theabnormal input conditions a feedforward compensation method is proposed.To realize thismethod the space vector modulation factor is adjusted in real time by sampling the value ofthe virtual dc link voltage. To verify the validity of the method the simulation is also built.Then the performance of matrix converter under the abnormal input conditions whenusing double line-to-line voltage synthesis control method and Venturini method is brieflypresented.The double line-to-line voltage synthesis control method has the anti-interferenceability to the input disturbance.By using sampled input voltages to calculate the switch dutycycles the Venturini method can also compensate the input voltage unbalance and distortion.At last the compensation effect of each modulation method is analyzed and comparedunder the abnormal input conditions.
