Over the last decade, in order to meet the needs of architectural features, the owners have increasingly demanding on usage of space within the building, requiring the building interior clear height up to a certain extent. However, more and more height limit of the buildings is proposed by the town planning restrictions, all kinds of equipment, pipe will take up a lot of space of building size.In this case, the normal beam and slab structure can no longer meet the requirements. Under the efforts of designers’and through a large number of experimental research, a more reasonable design method is probed, the "flat beam" design method. As the 《Code for Seismic Design of Buildings》(GB50011-2010) provides the width of flat beam cross section should not exceed2times the width of the cross section of columns.《Code for Seismic Design of Buildings》(GB50011-2010) has stringent limits on the flat beam width requirements, which brought a lot of limitations to the actual design and construction, the flat beam structure has been extremely limited in the practical application. This article put experiments on side nodes of two reinforced concrete flat beam and studied the mechanical properties mainly on side nodes of the cross section of flat beam for the corresponding3times width of column cross section under cyclic loading and analyzed the failure mechanism, bearing capacity, stiffness change of side nodes on reinforced concrete flat beam, and the influence of beam stiffness size on the flat beams properties. The article also carried the experiments of reinforcement layout and stress transfer, hysteretic properties of nodes, and the mechanical properties failure modes on node areas. The finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to simulate the side nodes of reinforced concrete flat beam, the cracking, stress state and damage characteristics of reinforced concrete flat beam side nodes is analyzed under cyclic loading, also further study on the force and deformation of side nodes of reinforced concrete flat beam is researched.
