With the rapid economic development, vehicles, especially the number of the private cars is increasing at an unparalleled speed. Although cities in the country keep expanding, number of roads rising, traffic jam still remains serious, or even worse. Therefore, providing citizens with real-time information about traffic conditions, for better traveling routes is surely to be an efficient means to ease transportation pressure and save time. Yet it’s a pity that traditional traffic information is so far incapable of solving this problem because of its limitations of software and hardware technology. This thesis tried to put forward, on the basis of the driving records by taxi, a new solution (myTraffic) to the system. The geographic information involved here comes from OpenStreetMap, a VGI project; the traffic information data attained is from taxi’s real-time driving records collected by GPS device. To have an estimation of vehicle’s driving speed on the roads, this solution made use of SAP HANA in-memory computing platform for its big data storage, its edge on querying information and calculation. Eventually the solution aimed to offer users with real-time service on optimized road’s choice and road’s conditions, by means of the web application, which is based on Java EE.Utilizing the latest software and hardware technology, this solution, with its real-time calculation of the big data provided citizens with useful and timely information on riding routes. Users can log on the web for the service anytime and anywhere and the application would present them the traffic information in a concrete and simple way quickly.
