In recent years, with the high speed of development of economy, the design scale ofwheel crane is getting bigger and bigger. The requirements for the crane wheel is more andmore strict and the research period is becoming more and more short. Moreover there is alot of contents for wheel crane to develop. This requires not only the high technical level foran artisan but also a rapid application development tool. The general part of wheel cranewhich is very important to the final performance contains many things and each part arerelated. The results calculated by traditional finite element method are exact and reliable,but the computation time is too long and the model is not universal which would reduce thedevelopment efficiency. So the analytical calculation is very important if it could meet therequirements.The computer brings a lot of conveniences to the development of crane. For a longtime, there is a lot of computation modules for the design of small crane wheel. Thesecalculation module is the crystallization and wealth of designers. They could greatlyimprove development efficiency. However, with the new requirements appears, a lot ofcalculation modules did not receive updates. It lead to the experience of the designs havenot been inheritance. In addition, the original calculation modules are often limited to asmall range and are not used universally.Now the company has realized the problem and plan to arrange the existing calculationmodule and the analytical calculation. The company intend to develop the calculationplatform for middle and small crane wheel in order to improve development efficiency.The content of this paper relies on the project by the Structural Engineering Institute ofJilin university and XuGong XuZhou heavy machinery company. The main work of thispaper include:(1) We introduce the development of crane wheel at home and abroad and analyse theproblems in the development of wheel crane. Then we determine the basis for this article.(2) We look up a lot of related literatures on wheel crane to understand the calculationof crane wheel for the general part and the boom. (3) We try to know the luffing three hinge point system of wheel crane and optimizethis by the method of Genetic Algorithm.(4) According to the theory above, we write the computation program by C++.Then wedesign the window、calculation function、logic and output interface of the calculationplatform.(5) We compare the result of the finite element with the calculation platform to provethe correctness of the calculation platform.
