VISSIM, the Urban Traffic Microscopic Simulation Software, is used to describe the operation of urban transportation, traffic flow characteristics and driver behaviors. Using the combination of model parameters and driving behavior parameters, which has great influence on the simulation result, VISSIM can build traffic models. As is well-known, the default or recommended values in VISSIM traffic models are normally determined according to the road traffic situation in developed countries, which may not be applicable in China. On the other side, microscopic traffic simulation is an important way to realize the road simulation intuitively and dynamically. And in traffic simulation, parameters calibration is the critical issues. Based on actual data of intersection, Glowworm Swarm Optimization (GSO) is further researched in this paper. The main research contents and conclusion are as follow:At the first, the current research status of calibration of microscopic traffic simulation parameters at home and abroad are analyzed and summarized. This chapter is mainly focus on the flow process of the simulation parameters calibration and the selection of calibrating algorithm, which lays the framework of the research.For the shortage of GSO, this paper did a further study on it, and puts forward an Improved Adaptive step Glowworm Swarm Optimization (IAGSO). By introducing the foraging behavior of fish swarm algorithm to the glowworm without companions, the glowworm can also update their positions. In that case, it will be easier to avoid local optimum and to approach the optimum value. As the results on standard test functions show, the IAGSO demonstrated its superiority.Moreover, related simulation parameters and COM interface of VISSIM are introduced in the paper. By using these, IAGSO is applied to the calibration of simulation parameters of VISSIM, and a new method to automatically revised simulation parameters is designed.At the last, an intersection simulated analysis system based on B/S structure comes out, and it’s used on the intersection model of Fuxing Road and Xicui Road on the Chang’an Avenue of Beijing, which is modeled by VISSIM. After autocorrected by this system, the simulate result is closed to the actual data.Through the research above, the VISSIM simulation parameter correction method, based on IAGSO, attains the goal of automatic calibration, and verifies its effectiveness. In conclusion, the paper has attained its targets.
