Water resource distribution in China is uneven temporally and spatially, and out of proportion with overall planning of social and economic development. Water shortage is a severe problem in many regions. Therefore, large-scale inter-basin water diversion projects which provide a new water sources in the water shortage regions were built. However, how to utilize water diversion reasonably, on the basis of fully utilization of local water resources, is a problem which needs to be settled. Under the connected condition, long-term optimization scheduling of the water supply reservoirs is of great significance for regional water resources rational allocation in water shortage area.On the basis of summarizing the relevant research, the runoff evolution law and characteristics of the water use in the studied area was firstly analyzed, and the multi-reservoir joint scheduling requirements in the study area was obtained, the characteristics and key of water supply on multi-reservoir joint scheduling problems was summarized in this paper. Secondly, the reservoir water diversion and water supply joint rules was made based on scheduling figure set, and a multi-objective joint water supply scheduling technology framework from the model was built into the optimal solution, and then to optimal selection of schemes. Thirdly, this technique was applied to Biliuhe and Yingnahe reservoir group scheduling problem in Dalian to provide a theoretical basis and practical reference for the reservoir group of water supply and water diversion decision-making. Research and results are shown as the follows:1. Identify trend and change point of the runoff in the research area, and judge the ability of the runoff compensation Biliuhe and Yingnahe reservoir through analyzing the encounter of runoff. Put forward characteristics and the key of multi-reservoir joint scheduling based on the analysis of the water use in the study area.2. Water diversion and water supply combined with optimization scheduling model is established and the method of solving the model and the scheme optimization is introduced.3. Optimal selection the scheduling plan according to the water demands by analyzing collaborative and competition relationship between optimization scheduling objectives are studied. 4. Study on the ability of water supply for reservoir group and further analyze the task allocation rules of water supply between the reservoirs.5. The results obtained by solving the optimization model are analyzed and compared. It shows that the dispatching rules are reasonable and meet the needs of scheduling. For the flood resources can be used effectively and the utilization of water resources is also improved in the Biliuhe reservoir under the condition of the water diversion. Compared with single scheduling, Multi-reservoir joint optimization scheduling has more advantages.Finally, the issues of further study is summarized and discussed.
