Ships, during the work, often suffer from harsh marine environment. Under the action of complex excitation, the structures of the ship often vibrate harmfully. The harmful vibration of the ship can influence the living environment of staff and the safety of the ship structure badly. So it has very important practical significance to the active control of the vibration of ship structure. So in this paper the piezoelectric patches are used for the control of vibration, and the piezoelectric patches configuration is optimized.In this paper, based on the Mindlin first order shear deformation theory and the Hamilton principle, the vibration equation of the four-node quadrilateral plate and membrane unit is deduced. And considering electromechanical coupling properties, the electric potential is joined in the degrees of freedom to establish the four-node quadrilateral finite element equations of the piezoelectric intelligent structure plate and membrane unit. The linear quadratic form independent modal space control method is used to resolve the active control equation of the vibration of the structure. The vibration response of the structure before and after control depends on the precise integration method for the solution. And the influence of the weight coefficient on the control of the piezoelectric smart materials is discussed.In order to make effective use of piezoelectric smart structure control, the adaptive evolution strategy is adopted for the optimized configuration of the piezoelectric element. Optimization mathematical model is set up, and the linear quadratic performance index is used for the optimize criterion. The finite element procedure is combined with optimization procedures to write the FORTRAN language program.The finite element model of the piezoelectric laminated plate and membrane unit is presented in this paper. The research on the optimization and the control of the piezoelectric smart structure, supplies theoretical basis for the active control of the structure vibration and the optimization further.
