The Mixture Of TSC And STATCOM Wattles Power Compensation System

Because reactive power balance has important significance on reactive power adjustment, it is regarded as an important reference for safe operation of power system. On the one hand, Thyristor switched capacitor(TSC) is widely used because it has simple structure and low cost. On the other hand, Static Synchronous Compensator(STATCOM) was taken seriously because it has good dynamic performance, good dynamic performance, fast response. If TSC and STATCOM are combined to use for var compensation, the dynamic adjustment and continuous var compensation can be achieved, at the same time the cost of the whole var compensation systems is reduced.This paper introduces the basic structure of TSC and TATCOM. The running characteristics and control principle are analyzed. Combing TSC and STATCOM control characteristics and advantages, a hybrid control unit is studied. The device can efficiently regulate the reactive power. Among them, the TSC cascades compensation reactive power, while the STATCOM implements transitional adjustment of reactive power. The two parts coordinate well can achieve continuous adjustment of reactive power. TSC maintains the balance of reactive power in a traditional control way. At the same time the STATCOM adopts indirect current control to realize automatic adjustment of reactive power. Through the two levels of control method, the hybrid control system can realize the real-time continuous adjustment of the grid reactive power.In the text, TSC and the STATCOM model are simulated in the MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation software and the result is analyzed. The results show that using TSC and STATCOM hybrid approach to reactive power regulation has a very good compensation effect in terms of the system’s power, voltage stability and the others. Also it has good a application prospect.
