High voltage DC power supply is widely applied to many fields, such as industry,agriculture, medicine and communications. Traditionally, industrial frequencyalternating current can be transformed into high voltage DC power by using the bulkyboosting transformers and filters, so the high voltage power supply is large and heavy,and it has less stability, range of application and efficiency. It is also inconvenient tocarry, transport, repair and maintain.With the development of power electronics,compared with the traditional power supply, the switching power supply is graduallyand widely applied for its features of high frequency, energy-saving etc.In this paper, a portable high voltage power supply is designed, which includesthe following parts: the power conversion unit, the voltage multiplier rectifier unit,pressure measuring unit, and the pulse oscillation control unit. The core part of thepower is the high-frequency inverter power unit with single-ended SCR invertertechnology,and the MGB50-12silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) is used as the corecomponent of it, which ensures the stability of the entire circuit. The pulse controloscillation circuits is made up of TL494and other auxiliary components, whichcontroll the working frequency and make sure the stability of the power supply underhigh frequency operating conditions.It is testified that the high-voltage direct current power supply designed in thispaper can achieve continuous adjustable output of the0-250KV,0-5mA. Circuitoperating frequency is14.7KHz. The ripple factor is0.0175. The overall efficiency isbigger than87%. The power supply is tested for a long time, and the devices operatein a stable condition and they have a good load capacity. The power supply ischaracterized by small size, light weight, high stability, low ripple factor, easy torepair and maintenance, which means that it can widely applied in the field of industry,agriculture, communication, science research and so on. At last, this paper furtherconducts the simulation study of the operating characteristics of the semi-arm inversesymmetrical voltage multiplier in MATLAB Simulink environment. It providestechnical supports to improve the high voltage of DC power supply for higher output, and it also will provide a new way for the design of high voltage power supply.
