FSAE car racing rules all basic point is the engine air intake should be through the cross section20mm diameter flow-limiting valve, and metering valves must be installed in the engine throttle and inlet valve between the car diesel engine air intake system structure parameters and layout changes directly affect the uniformity of the air intake resistance and intake efficiency, economy and emission characteristics which affect performance in our school first FSAE car project in low mass flow inlet flow loss big engine air intake system under the working condition of high speed low torque and power of weaknesses, based on the FSAE car with the engine air intake system structure improved design and into the air flow field characteristic analysis as the main research content.In this paper, based on fluid mechanics theory, systematic analysis of the reasons for the loss of inlet flow; Theoretical calculation of intake structure parameters, using UG three-dimensional modeling software for cars with engine flow-limiting valve diffuser cavity and air intake system of geometric modeling, using CFD software FLUENT to different flow-limiting valve of the cone Angle of diffuser cavity and air intake system before and after optimization into the analysis and calculation of the flow field characteristics, get three conclusions:(1)For the first time by using FLUENT software for cars with engine separately different cone Angle structure flow-limiting valve diffuser on flow field characteristic analysis, obtained in7cone Angle, the better air flow, inlet pressure loss is lesser.(2)Through the contrast analysis of different cone Angle of cavity structure, obtained the different Angle of import and export under the condition of velocity field and velocity vector field, and reveals the cavity internal flow field characteristics and distribution rule.(3)With the help of CFD software FLUENT, the car with the engine air intake system including flow-limiting valve inlet pipe-cavity-such as intake manifold flow field simulation analysis, the parameters such as pressure speed distribution in the flow field are obtained, and the comparative analysis before and after optimization mass flow rate and inlet manifold air intake system of exit velocity due to lack of test conditions, but in the end by the second session of the FSAE car racing game etc, to some extent indicated that the feasibility of air intake system optimization scheme.In this paper, the three-dimensional fluid dynamics software FLUENT flow field of air intake system characteristic analysis, intuitive reflect the air intake system structure parameters and flow field in the relationship, the results show that the optimized air intake system of mass flow rate and inlet exit velocity increased, intake manifold exports increased in speed by about10m/s, And the exit flow evenly,the flow loss is reduced, to improve the car with the engine power under high speed working conditions, thus for FSAE car engine provides theory basis for design and improvement, in terms of academic and engineering has important application value.
