Combustion of fossil fuel has brought great harm to the environment, emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, dust and other environmental contaminants has increased year by year, which became the culprit of acid rain, the greenhouse effect and other weather disasters. As a traditional agricultural country, China’s biomass resources reserves are huge, widely distributed, so efficient use of biomass resources will become an important way for China to solve the energy crisis. Meanwhile, large amounts of industrial sludge are produced in our country everyday, if not handled properly, it will cause secondary pollution on the ecological environment, on the contrary, they will become valuable secondary resources. Industrial sludge treatment and disposal has become a highlight of one of the environmental issues. Considering our national conditions, biomass briquettes can become a very competitive energy, therefore, study on biomass briquette combustion characteristics and pollutant emission characteristics has much significance.By isothermal combustion test, this article studies the combustion characteristics of biomass briquette made by straw (wheat straw, corn stalks, cotton stalks, corn cobs) and leather sludge, and discusses the influence on the combustion characteristics of the briquette by straw and leather sludge blending ratio, furnace temperature and briquette diameter, and then seeks the combustion kinetics parameters of biomass briquette.First, this article uses isothermal combustion tests studing biomass briquette combustion characteristics muffle furnace produced by Longkou Yushchenko instrument company. By research we found the biomass briquette isothermal combustion process can be divided into two stages:the first stage is quickly combustion stage; second stage is the briquette burnout stage. First stage is the main phase for forming fuel combustion, and the reaction time is short. Briquette weight loss rate reaches as high as70%in the region; second stage is the burnout stage, the reaction time is the longest. The burning rate of biomass briquette increases with the increase of straw proportion, the rise of furnace temperature and the decreases of particle size.Secondly, using isothermal method handled the combustion test data and depicted the curve calculation process, solving the combustion kinetics parameters, raw material briquette reaction order, activation energy and frequency factor. Finally, using a tube furnace combustion test system studied the SO2, NOx emission characteristics of the biomass briquette and examined the influence of blending ratio, furnace temperature and particle size, and other factors on it.
