The cutting slope excavation stability analysis is the core of slope engineering study. At present, China is in the mountain railway and highway construction boom, inevitably encounters numerous slope disasters. How to analyze the mechanisms of excavation, deformation and failure, and accurately determine the slope stability is very important. To this end, researchment of excavation slope deformation and failure mechanism, analysis of its stability, and suggestions of effective control measures has important practical significance.A strongly weathered basalt slope of Biwei Expressway, due to the lack of knowledge of the geological conditions and geotechnical properties leads to overall slumping after ex-cavation. The original design cannot but be changed. In this paper, for the slope project, on the basis of research in its field, the geological environment of the slope, the structure and deformation characteristics of the rock mass, the slope deformation mechanism and failure mode are analyzed. And the damaged softening model(that is, considering UNCLOADING EFFECT of excavation) of newborn accumlation slope is established. The finite difference software FLAC-3D is used to study the mechanism of the formation of deposit slope. The results of deformation and failure derived is coincident with the slope actual situation. Thus it is analyzed that the changed design used damaged softening model. Finally, the prevention and treatment of such slope is recommended.Studies have shown:the strongly weathered slope overlying aquifers with poor structural is a class of similar soil slope. Ahead of excavation and lag of shoring penetration of rainfall, temperature difference between day and night and other natural forces are the main iMPact factors of similar class soil cutting slope stability. Excavation unloading engineering effect of newborn deposit slope prones to creep-crack destroying. The cutting slope is in the early creep stage. And the foot of the slope, the excavation face and slope shoulder are potentially dangerous parts. Using damaged softening model to newborn deposit slope simulates excavation unloading effect on the slope. The results are in accordance with the actual situation. And slope prevention should focus sloping shoulder, shallow surface reinforcement and waterproof. Routes and methods used in this paper has a more realistic reference on similar weathering slope engineering research.
