Oscillating Heat Pipe, as one of the most special heat pipes in heat pipe family, has got great attention in the field of heat pipes due to its simple structure, low cost, excellent thermal performance and good compatibility, and it has been considered as one of the most promising technology to solve cooling problem of high heat flux. However, relative to the ordinary pulsating heat pipe, the plate oscillating heat pipe is easiler to achieve miniaturization, micromation and more suitable for micro-electronics cooling area, etc, so the in-depth investigation on it has important practical significance.The structure of oscillating heat pipe seems to be simple, but there is a complex vapor-liquid two-phase flow and thin film evaporation heat transfer process existing inside. After adding nano-particles into the oscillating heat pipe, the organic combination of vapor, liquid and solid heat transfer is formed which make the operational mechanism to be more difficultly understand, thus the more in-depth and detail investigation on oscillating heat pipe is needed urgently. In this paper, a removable plate oscillating heat pipe has been designed and experimental research works has been carried out as follows:(1) Experimental investigation on the tilt angle how to influence the heat transfer performance of plate oscillating heat pipe.(2) Experimental investigation on the filling ratio how to influence the heat transfer performance of plate oscillating heat pipe.(3) Experimental investigation on the nano-fluid how to influence the heat transfer performance of plate oscillating heat pipe.The experimental results indicated that:(1) Tilt angle has a great effect on the heat transfer performance of the plate oscillating heat pipe, and the optimum tilt angle is90°. Following the decrease of tilt angle, the heat transfer performance, start-up performance and stability perfonnance became worse. At the same time, under the lower filling ratio and smaller tilt angle, the plate oscillating heat pipe will appear the phenomenon of "run-dry".(2) The heat transfer performance of plate oscillating heat pipe was significantly influenced by filling ratio, and the optimum filling ratio was60%. Following the increase of filling ratio, the heat transfer resistance decreases first and then increase, and the effect of working angle become smaller. At the same time, the lower filling ratio the better start-up performance but the worse stability performance.(3) In this paper, the heat transfer performance became worse after filled with the Al2O3nano-fluid, and only at40%and50%fill ratio the was the plate oscillating heat pipe working. Further experimental analysis indicated that the main reason of heat transfer performance became worse is the inner surface modification of plate oscillating heat pipe and the physical character of nano-fluid.Obviously, in this paper the research work deepens the understanding of plate oscillating heat pipe, and provides some experimental data for building theoretical model of heat transfer and researching nano-fluid heat transfer performance of plate oscillating heat pipe.
