With the expansion of power system scale, the problem of power system safe and stable operation have become increasingly prominent. Generator governing system undertake the task of peak load regulation and frequency modulation.It plays an important role in maintaining active power balance, decreasing the frequency variation and improving the stability of the grid. The calculation results will be different when using different prime mover and generator governing system model and parameters.Digital simulation model can accurately reflect the real dynamic characteristics of actual governing system, directly affects the credibility of the simulation results and the the correctness of the control strategy. Parameter identification is an important means to obtain the parameters of the system.In this paper,generator governing system modeling and parameter identification are studied.This paper introduces the working principle and mathematical model of the prime mover and generator governing system, analysis the simulation model of motivation and governing system in BPA.and gives the field test method for governing system parameters test. According to the testing process of complicated issues,this article using RLS and PSO to identify the main parameters of governing system which is sensitive to small disturbance.The identification results show that, by using RLS and PSO not only can get more accurate result, but also can greatly reduce the workload of field test. But using RLS get a total transfer function.In order to obtain the specific parameters, need equations to solve the nonlinear equations, and sometimes it is not feasible. PSO based on random solution, through the iterative search for the optimal solution, can directly obtain the identification parameters. Finally, establish the one-infinite-bus power system simulation model in BPA software and compute the frequency perturbation step response. The simulation results are in good agreement with the measured data and the indicators are meet the relevant requirements, which show the effectiveness of the method.The work of this paper provides methods and tools for power plant and the analysis of power system operation personnel to access governing system model and parameter, and provides a more accurate calculation model and parameters for power system stability analysis.This work also has certain theoretical significance and application value to ensure the safety of power grid operation.
