With the increasing awareness of energy crisis and serious environmental pollution, requirements to improve the human living environment has been more and more urgent. To replace the high fuel consumption and high pollution conventional vehicles, kinds of electric vehicles stand out. In the near future, HEV is considered to be the quite car to replace the traditional automobiles thus towards to pure electric cars, duing to its advantages of energy saving and environmental protection and the ability balance the advantages of traditional vehicles and pure electric vehicles. As the soul of the control strategy and the core technology in vehicle technology, HEV energy management strategies have been research hot spot all over the world.This paper summarizes the hybrid vehicle development present situation and trend at home and abroad and analyse the current key technologies of HEV. Introduces different structure types of HEV and the characteristics of the various structures. Classiflies the existing various energy management strategies and analyses the control principle and the advantages and disadvantages of various strategies.For parallel hybrid electric vehicles, designes the energy management strategy model.Energy management strategy is generally divided into rule-based control strategy and control strategy based on optimization, which also can be divided into the instantaneous optimal control strategy and the global optimization control strategy. Instantaneous optimal control strategies are only related to the current road conditions and easy to implement. Take the fuel economy of an fixed route as control target, global optimization is a global optimal control strategy, which is heavily dependent on the road information. So, the study of traffic modeling and predicting gradually become the current hot topics in the study of HEV. As the technologies of global positioning system (GPS), intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and geographic information system (GIS) and so on development, the road information is more and more easy to collect, which provides a probablity for the application of global optimization control strategies.Models the road information by the method of the generalized radial basis function (GRNN), and predicting the road information by th model. Establishes the road predicting model of the Shandong University Qianfo campus to Hongjialou campus, lay a foundation for design optimization strategy based on road predicting.On the basis of dynamic programming algorithm, deisgnes the energy management strategies based on the improved dynamic programming algorithm which can significantly shorten the running time. Simulation showed that compared with based on rules, the energy management strategy based on improved dynamic programming algorithm can significantly increase the fuel economy of HEV. Meanwhile deisgnes the improved dynamic programming algorithm combined with road prediction, Simulation showed that compared with based on rules, the improved dynamic programming algorithm combined with road prediction can significantly shorten the running time and increase the fuel economy of HEV, too.
