There are a lot of multidimensional vibration and impact in equipment of vehicles and ships, aerospace equipments and so on, and they have influenced seriously the performance and work life of these equipments. The existing multidimensional vibration isolation theory and technology have many defects, they are unable to meet the needs of the actual works on multidimensional vibration isolation, and there is no device which can isolate different dimension of vibrations, so there are actual meanings and applied value to study multidimensional vibration isolating device which can be used in different working conditions.Supported by the National Science Foundation project-Active control study on multidimensional vibration of precision equipment based on flexible metamorphic mechanism (51275275) and Shandong Young Scientist Research Award Fund-Study on active vibration control of precision equipment based on flexible metamorphic mechanism (BS2010ZZ006), this paper presents a new metamorphic parallel mechanism used to the main mechanism of multidimensional vibration isolator, the isolator can isolate two different dimension of vibrations, it provides a new idea for multidimensional vibration isolation.Firstly, a new metamorphic parallel mechanism is designed for multidimensional vibration isolation based two different parallel mechanisms. The mobility of the mechanism in two different positions is analyzed. The results show that the mechanism has two different mobility, it can change from one to another.Secondly, the kinematics and dynamics of the metamorphic parallel mechanism are analyzed. The results show that the kinematics and dynamics equations are simple, and the mechanism has good decoupling.Thirdly, the metamorphic parallel mechanism is used as the main mechanism of multidimensional vibration isolator, and the spring damping system is used in the active pairs, then a new multidimensional vibration isolation platform is developed. The dynamical differential equations for the system are deduced, the nature frequencies of the system in two different positions are analyzed, and the dynamic sensitivity is studied to discover the influences of the design parameters to the natural frequencies. The results show that the system has different natural frequencies in different parameters, and it can isolate two different dimension of vibrations.Finally, the kinematics of the system is validated in ADAMS and MATLAB software. The simulations in ADAMS show that the multidimensional vibration isolation platform has good vibration isolation effect.It is creationary to use the metamorphic parallel mechanism to solve multidimensional vibration isolation problem. The isolation platform in this paper has two kind mobility, it can isolate two different dimensions of vibrations, and it has simple structure and good vibration isolation effect. This paper has pointed a new study direction of multidimensional vibration isolation and taken on extensive theoretical and practical values in this paper.
