With the rapid development of construction of the smart grid, the reformation inthe distribution network, and the application of the accessories automation technology,many manufacturers provide a large number of different types of distributionautomation terminal equipments. However, the technicians’ different understandingsto the communication protocol between master station of distribution automationmanagement system and, distribution terminal equipments, causes many troubles inthe consistency of communication protocols. In order to solve the problems above,this thesis proposes a method for the IEC-60870communication standard test whichcan automatically detect the anomalies in the process of communication.The development of distribution automation technology is closely related toelectronic technology, computer technology and network communication technology,which makes network transmission based on the IEC60870-5-104communicationprotocol has been widely used in the distribution automation system. A novel methodbased on the Discrete Event System (DES) theory is proposed to solve thecompatibility and interoperability issues that among the devices from differentmanufactures for the application of the IEC60870-5-104in the distribution network.In this thesis, the DES method, which is expressed by Finite State Machine (FSM), isemployed to model the procedures of communications based on IEC60870-5-104. Inaddition, each object in the application layer is represented by FSM, and statetransition diagrams describe the communications among objects. The controllableforced migration events after no-response messages and uncontrollableunknown-message events are introduced in the event set to manipulate the proceduressystematically and automatically. The DES algorithm controls and recognizes theproposed procedures as well as provides theoretical basic in the design of the smartautomatic testing system based on IEC60870-5-104.This test method is proposed to facilitate the communication swap betweenterminal equipments, and to improve the productivity of the intelligent distributionnetwork constructers; It can customize the automatic test options according to theneeds of investment project owner or operation maintenance party in the testingprocess; starting the automatic test process that sets by the DES,and complete the entire manual operation processes based on the operation of master station and theresponse of substation between the master station and substation; then automaticallyreturning the detailed test results.
