Sprout is a common phenomenon in plants, in particular, is an important way to maintain tree regeneration in woody plants. And sprout is important to ensure continuity and stability of the population and community. Principle and technology of sprout are used to guide production and management of nursery stock of economics forest tree species in forestry. Besides, principle and technology of sprout are used in the landscape to realize rapid vegetative propagation of seedlings.Evergreen broad-leaved forest occupies an important low in vegetation of China. Current, sprout characteristics of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest trees was rarely reported. This paper took subtropical evergreen broad-leaved trees of Jinyun mountain as the research subject. And commmon15tree species were selected to study. The species of the first tree layer include Symplocos laurina、 Gordonia acuminata、 Elaeocarpus duclouxii、Elaeocarpus japonicus、 Castanopsis fargesii、Machilus nanmu. The species of the second tree layer include Symplocos setchuanensis、Symplocos lancifolia、Adinandra bockiana、Sloanea leptocarpa、Neolitsea aurata. Eurya loguiana、Camellia tsofuii、Aidia cochinchinensis、Castanopsis carlesii belone to the third tree layer. Those15species belone to Fagaceae、Lauraceae、Theaceae、 Symplocaceae、Elaeocarpaceae、Rubiaceae.This research based on the methods of field investigation and field control experiment. On the basis of field investigation and analysis, we studyed the relations of sprout ability of15tree species and the relations of sprout ability in different DBH size classes. The influence of environmental conditions (different habitats conditions and human disturbance) on sprout ability of15tree species. In order to reveal the sprout characteristics of each species. Based on the controllable cuttage experiment, we studyed the cuttage survival rate of each tree species and the influence of hormone treatment on the cuttage survival rate. In order to reveal the potential sprout ability of each species.The primary conclusions are as follows:1) The sprout number and sprout rate between tree species showed differences. Symplocos lancifolia, Machilus nanmu, Adinandra bockiana, Elaeocarpus duclouxii, Eurya loguiana, Castanopsis carlesii had higher sprout number and sprout rate than other species.And this indicated that those species have stronger sprout ability. But sprout number and sprout rate of3tree species which are Aidia cochinchinensis, Symplocos setchuanensis, Sloanea leptocarpa were lower. This reflected their weaker sprout ability.2)The sprout number in the different DBH size classes was differences.And for all the species, the sprout number in0.5≤DBH<5cm size classe was at least.Besides, the average of sprouting number increased as the increase of DBH size classe. The sprout rate was also differences in different DBH size classes. Most species (12species) had the highest sprout rate in0.5≤DBH<5cm size classe.At the DBH≥15cm size classes, only the sprout rate of Elaeocarpus japonicus was the highest. The highest sprout rate of Camellia tsofuii and Castanopsis fargesii were in5≤DBH<15cm size classe.The average of sprouting rate showed a downward trend as the increase of DBH size classes.3) Environmental conditions including natural habitat and human disturbance can affect the sprout ability of trees.①The sprout number and sprout rate of trees were affected by habitat condition.But there was difference between the tree species. The sprout rate of6tree species was the highest in Qinglongzhai habitat.The sprout rate of4species and sprout number of4species were the highest in Shamuyuan habitat. In Jinyun village habitat, the sprout number of8species was minimum and the sprout rate of8species was minimum. The sprout number of6tree species was maximum in Baotafeng habitat.②For most species, human disturbance can improve their sprout ability.But sprout ability of a few species reduced after human disturbance. After human disturbance,the sprout number and sprout rate of Symplocos laurina decreased.And the sprout number and sprout rate of7species which are Symplocos setchuanensis, Symplocos lancifolia, Eurya loguiana, Aidia cochinchinensis, Sloanea leptocarpa, Castanopsis fargesii, Neolitsea aurata increased after human disturbance.We can concluded that human disturbance can reduce the sprout ability of Symplocos laurina and increase sprout ability of the other7tree species.4) The potential sprout ability was differences between15species. For most of the species,the cuttage survival rate under the CK is higher than the sprout rate in the field under natural conditions.Besides, there were a significant positive correlation(r=0.794) between the cuttage survival rate under the CK and the sprout rate under natural conditions.The tree species which have a higher potential sprout ability under the experimental conditions have a higher sprout rate under natural conditions. NAA (200ppm) for processing, we found that survival rate of8species was improved and another7species was decreased. Different hormones and their different concentrations can also affect the potential sprout ability of trees.
