The national nature reserve of Jinggang mountain is the typical central Asian tropicalregion in south China. Forest community types are rich in the region. The forest acreagereaches as high as95%, and the crown density attains more than0.9. With complex terrainand multiply habitats, it has various subtropical vegetation types range from evergreenbroad-leaved forest to alpine meadow, which form a complete forest ecological system.Study on central Asian tropical forest has great importance in our country and even in theworld. The function of water conservation is one of the important ecological services inforest ecosystem. Forests store precipitation and regulate its distribution through canopyinterception, litter containment and soil containment. Based on field test, this research gotevery layer’s parameters of water conservation among different vegetation types. By dataanalysis, it compared water conservation capacity on each layer in different vegetationtypes at Jinggang mountains of national nature reserve. Finally, the paper effectivelyevaluated the capacity of water conservation in the reserve by integrated storage method. The experiment and data analysis showed that:(1) In terms of forest canopyinterception, reserve rainfall amount interception arrived5.29×104t per time. Thecapacity of canopy interception once in coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest was thebiggest, the equivalent depth is0.139mm. While the capacity of canopy interception ofbroad-leaved forest was the smallest, the equivalent depth is only0.047mm.(2) In termsof litter containment, reserve rainfall amount containment arrived199.41×104t per time. The capacity of litter containment once in miscellaneous shrub forest was the biggest, contained depth was10.20mm. While the capacity of bamboo forest was the smallest, thedepth is only5.23mm.(3) In terms of soil containment, reserve rainfall amountinterception arrived1989.16×104t. The capacity of soil containment under the coniferousand broad-leaved mixed forest was the biggest, the depth of containment reached102.09mm. While the capacity of broad-leaved forest was smaller than that, the depth is65.79mm.(4) The total amount of water conservation of forest ecosystem in reserve was 2193.86×10~4t. The rate of canopy interception, litter containment and soil containmentamong the total was0.24%,9.09%and90.67%, respectively. The result showed that theforest soil layer was the main part of the function of water conservation.
