With the development and popularization of precision agriculture (PA), Numbers of agricultural equipments have been designed to meet the needs of PA and improve agricultural productivity. As an important parameter of PA’s research, soil information is the fundamental basis of soil fertility and precision fertilization analysis. So the technology of quick soil information acquisition is an available means to improve the degree of PA.Paper’s design derived from the National863Program "Key technology and product development of farmland soil information quick acquisition". On the basis of soil sampling car described in the plan, after analyzing the specific requirements of soil sample information and integrating sensor technology, embedded technology as well as wireless communication technology, database technology, geographic information system(GIS) technology, an intelligent soil information acquisition device on tractor and its management system has been developed. The device can monitor the hydraulic pump source pressure, achieve the time, date, position, temperature and humidity of soil sample, then the device can send the above information as SMS to the PC management platform; management system can receive and resolve the SMS, then save the sample information to the database, also users can scan the sample information in maps and so on. The intelligent soil information acquisition system can solve the problems of traditional technology such as time-consuming, expensive, poor accuracy, poor adaptability and lack of monitoring.Paper’s study work includes two parts, hardware design and software design:Part of hardware:The circuit design of ultra-low power microcontroller MSP430F149which is the core of intelligent soil information acquisition device on tractor; the driver circuit design of external GPS module, temperature and humidity module, hydraulic sensor module, GSM module, TFT color LCD module and the PCB of whole device.Part of software:This part include embedded software and PC management platform software design. An ultra-low power process which been embedded each driver program of the modules and AD conversion program fit with least squares has been designed by interrupt control on the hardware condition of MSP430F149. Management platform of the host computer is programmed with object-oriented design language VB and Access database, also call the MapX ActiveX control to realize soil sample information management with GIS. Finally, after several simulation experiments of soil sample in campus, it has been proved that intelligent soil sample information acquisition device can monitor the hydraulic, collect and send soil sample information by SMS well. The host computer platform management can receive and analyze soil sample SMS precisely, and the soil sample information can been managed in maps well. Above all, the device and the platform designed in this paper can provide some theory and practice basis to the development of PA in China.
