This research conducted several experiments of rootstock pumpkins, including cultivationdensity experiment, fertilization times experiment, reserved number of melon experiment, ethephontreatment experiment. By the detection of the setting percentage, the number of seeds in singlemelon,1000-grain weight, germination rate and germination energy of the rootstock pumpkins, weanalyzed the productivity and quality of different groups of seeds respectively. The main findings areas follows.1. In the rootstock pumpkin cultivation density experiment, we find that cultivation densitycould affect the germination ability and speed by mainly affecting the number of seeds in single melonand the1000-grain weight, which influence seed production, and finally has an influence on thegrowth and development of seedling and several healthy indexes.800strains/667m2is the optimalcultivation density for the seed production of high quality, high-producing pumpkin.2. In the fertilization times experiment, we find that by increasing the times of fertilization, the amount of pollen does increase on a certain extend, which enhance the probability of pollinationand fecundation. In addition, the increase could improve the fruit setting, the productivity of theseeds, the1000-grain weight of the pumpkins and could provide a optimal material base for seedsgermination and a fine seedling growth environment by accumulate enough nutrient.3. In the reserved number of melon experiment, we find that the reserved number of melon ineach plant has influence on the productivity and quality of pumpkin seeds on an extent. With theincrease of the reserved melon, the1000-grain weight, germination rate and germination energy havedecreases on different scales, the productivity get optimal when the reserved number remains three.Comprehensively considered with various productivity and quality indexes, along with the result of theexperiment, it is ideal to reserve the melon number to three in the practical production of pumpkincrossbreeding.4. The research shows that the after-ripening of the first melon affects the quality of the seeds ona great extent. Generally, after being pollinated20~25days, the seeds could not accord with “Criteriaof seeds quality grading standard of P.R.C” even if they have been post-ripened. After beingpollinated35~40days,the seeds have optimal effect after being post-ripened for20days,which leadsto a great extent improvement on1000-grain weight, germination rate and germination energy. The first melon must be harvest after it has been pollinated after35days, it is better not harvestpreviously, if it has to be harvest early for some reasons, we should better extend the length ofpost-ripening for the first melon, which could guarantee the physiological maturity of the seeds andcould get quality assurance of the seeds.
