The synthetic insecticide has long been used to control the sanitary insect pest, becauseof its high-efficiency, quick-acting effects, economy and ease of use. The sanitary insect pestwhich lives in residential areas, and its surrounding areas, is close relations with people. Sincelong-term, heavy and continual use of the synthetic insecticide, it not only causes grave“3R”problem, but also damage human health and the environment. Botanical insecticide hasmany advantages, such as low toxicity and residue, easy degradation, difficult to producepest-resistance, safety to human and animals, and no pollution to environment, so it consistswith the requirements of the people of hygienic insecticide and has a wide applies prospects. In this paper, insecticidal activity of121kinds of plant extracts against culex pipiens pallensand Musca domestica L. has been investigated, the results are as follows:1. This paper studied the larvicidal efficacy of alcoholic extracts from121kinds of plantextracts against the third instar larvae of Culex pipiens pallens by the method of liquidimmerse, which is recommended by WHO. Of these, alcoholic extracts from Duchesneaindica and Carduus crispus exhibited the best mosquito larvicidal activity, aftertreatment for6/24h, the adjusted moralities of Duchesnea indica were86.67%/95.56%, andCarduus crispus were71.17%/86.67%; after treatment for24h, the LC50values of Duchesneaindica to the third instar larvae of Culex pipiens pallens was23.21μg/mL, flowed byCarduus crispus was76.32μg/mL.2. The contact toxicity against Musca domestica L of alcoholic extracts from121plantswere studied by micro-drop method. The result showed that Duchesnea indica, Ipomoea nil,Anemone vitifolia, this3kinds of alcoholic extracts, with the dose of0.919mg per insect, thecontact mortality was more than90%in24hr.3. The antifeedant activity against Musca domestica L of alcoholic extracts from121plantshas been studied by feeding. The result showed there were15kinds plant has high antifeedant, which were Carpesium macrocephalum, Duchesnea indica, Corispermum hyssopifolium,Heracleum moeuendorffii, Eleuthercococcus gracilistylus, Linum usitatissimum, Ipomoea nil,Macleaya cordata, Thermopsis lanceolala, Peganum harmala, Clerodendrum trichotomum,Euonymus phellomanus, Anemone vitifolia and Buddleja albiflora, the antifeedant rate wasmor than90%in24,48hr. Above all, Duchesnea indica and Carduus crispus displayed good larvicidal activityagainst Culex pipiens pallens, which had potential to develop botanical mosquito larvicide.Besides, insecticidal activity of Duchesnea indica, Ipomoea nil and Anemone vitifolia againstMusca domestica L could be suggested for further research.
