Under the global change and fast urbanization speed background, urban forests play animportant, how to quantify their function is a key point. This paper takes Shanghai north bay as acase, and the land cover changes and forest woody vegetation biodiversity were studied. Therelationship between land cover and woody vegetation diversity was analyzed. Based on thevolume-derived biomass method landscapefragmentation on forest carbon storage was evaluated..This study would provide a scientificbasisline in urban green land planning and serve for building low-carbon city. The main conclusions of the research are as the following:(1) There are33tree and32shrub species in this studied area, The importance value of eachspecies is calculated, and the top five tree species are Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl.,Metasequoia glyptostroboides Hu et Cheng, Opsmanthus fragrans Lours., poplar, and Magnoliagrandiflora linn., and the top five of Shrub species are Photinia serrulata Lindl, Juniperuschinensis cv. kaizuka, Buxus sinica, Cercis chinensis Bunge and Pittosporum tobira leaflets. Themajor species in different land use are different, for example sweet camphor tree is the main treein transportation, residential, cultural and education area. The metasequoia glyptostroboides is themain species in Water and wasteland area. Poplar is mainaly located in agricultural land.Residential areas and the transportation land use have higher species Richness (S), Evenness (E),Simpson`s diversity index (D) and Diversity (H) were highest. The diversities indice in industrialand agricultural land use are lower.(2) Based on vegetation classification and ordination rule woody species distribution patternin different land cover were analyzed, the results show that:When the grass land cover rate is low, there are poplar, metasequoia glyptostroboides, sweetcamphor tree species. When the grass coverage rate is high, wide yulan magnolia andsweet-scented osmanthus are more widely distributed. When the shrub land cover rate is low, thedistribution of poplar, metasequoia glyptostroboides and township is more. When the shrubcoverage is high, the distribution of Wide yulan magnolia, osmanthus is more. When the soilcoverage and trees coverage are low, the magnolia, metasequoia glyptostroboides, poplar, osmanthus are more distributed. When the soil coverage and trees coverage are high, sweet camphor trees are more widely distributed. When the impervious coverage is low, Pittosporum tobira distribution is more,. When the soilcoverage, the grass coverage rate is lower, more Pittosporum tobira distribution in soil coverage, the grass coverage rate high, heather more distribution. When the trees, shrubs, coverage coverageis low, Juniperus chinensis cv. kaizuka distribution is more, When the trees, shrubs coverage at thehigher coverage, more Pittosporum tobira distribution.(3) By the improved volume derived biomass method, Shanghai north bay in hangzhou baycarbon storage is277615.91Mg C, carbon density is7.29Mg C/hm2; Different town has differentcarbon storage and carbon density, the sequence is the Haiwan Town> Zhelin Town>CaojingTown> Shanyang Town> Luchaogang Town> Shihua Streets, and The carbon density order isShanyang Town> Haiwan Town> Shihua Streets> Caojing Town> Luchaogang Town> ZhelinTown.(4) Based on the Fragstats3.3software and the grid map of Shanghai in Hangzhou bay, therelationship between fragmentation level and the carbon storage function of woody vegetation wasconcluded. The results show that the green land fragmentation influence its carbon storagefunction, to some degree, green land fragmentation make its carbon storage lower.
