| To choose the best sex attractant and trap by using different sex attractants and traps provided by different factories to control Spodoptera exigua Hubner in the field. And do some research on the feasibility that the SeNPV could spread from the surface of adults to the next generation, which will provide some evidence to control S. exigua by combining sex attractant and SeNPV.1. Application and evaluation of sex attractants of S. exigua in the fieldAfter monitoring the occurrence dynamic and quantity of S. exigua in the field using five kinds of sex attractants, each sex attractant shows the same tendency, the ones from Pherobio Technology Co.Ltd. and Zhangzhou Enjoy Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd trapped more than others; The sex attractant can be used in the field for30-40days, less beet army worms would be trapped after40days, it’s suggested that the sex attractant could be exchanged every30-40days. The vertical trap and the water basin trap could trap more worms than the wing trap, there was no significant difference between the two traps.2. Feasibility study on SeNPV spreading among S. exiguaThe second instar of beet army worms can be easily contaminated and died after being infected with SeNPV exposed in the field for12days. SeNPV induced great mortality to F1progeny, up to50%of larvae died after contamination with SeNPV for3days and80%for5days. Both larvae and adults were surface-contaminated with SeNPV, and less F1survived. When it’s2×1010or2×1011PIB/g, less than20%of larvae survived, and there was no obvious differences between them. The larvae from eggs surface-contaminated with virus powder got higher motality.3. Combination sex attractants and SeNPV to control S. exiguaThe autoinoculators invented by WuHan Vegetables Research Institute could get the females lay less eggs, which was about50%of CK in the grenadine cage, however, it did less to lower the hatchability, what’s more, the mortality of early instar larvae was higher, about50%, and the CK was10%more or less; The autoinoculators also could get larvae whose parental generation were surface-contaminated with virus powder died in the greenn house. The tenth days after contamination, about50%of larvae decreased. |
