Pecan(Carya illinoensis) belongs to Juglandaceae Carya species, is the important nut tree in the world, and also is the high quality hardwood tree, and an excellent ornamental tree, and has high economic value. But so far, pecan production in China was not to achieve industrialization, the basic nuts and consumer dependence on imports, an important reason for this phenomenon was the construction of parks were not scientific configured when the tree pollination, resulting in poor pollination and physiological fruit drop serious. Therefore, the biological characteristics of the pecans is necessary for scientific records, but few studies on this aspect, and not systematic. Though tdifferent vareities of this study of the biological properties of pecan to provid science and statistics information, for building its park with early fruit yield, provide the basis science information. For these two problems, this study, on the one hand, by the pecan of various strains were observed flowering phenology, in order to obtain basic science information on pollination combinations; the other hand, under different storage conditions by studying the pollen viability of the strain changes to understand the strains of pollen storage conditions and to maintain high activity of the longest storage time for the artificial pollination to provide technical support to the science building for the pecan, provide the basis for early fruit yield. Test in2009and2010, respectively in Nanjing Zhongshan Garden and the basic field of Carya illinoensis Nanjing Green Universe Technology Co. Ltd. The main results are as follows:1.Flowering phenology of the pecan characteristicsCarya illinoensis of5varierties in2009and20varirerties in2010to conduct field observations were recorded in the early flowering stage male flowers, flowering, end of flowering, flower and female flowers on early flowering, flowering, and record daily the maximum temperature, average temperature, minimum temperature and relative humidity, the following results:Widespread phenomenon of male and female have different flower stage, female and male flowers can be pollinated on the shedding of more inconsistent. Mostly male was go to bloom by the end of April or the beginning of the season, shedding of the basic early in May,between6to7days, female flowers are usually in early May into the flowering period, pollination period was short, concentrated in late May, for around7days. Most varerities were the type for the first-female, the first-male varerities were fewer than the first-female, and simultaneous were the lest, the female flowers can be pollinated with the male flowers of the shedding was hard to meet, a small area of the orchard can be artificial pollination, a large area of orchard was scientific to be with pollination trees. The observation that most vareities have a suitable tree pollination. Male flowers of the flowering phenology and the maximum temperature have the most closely related, followed by the daily average temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity less relevant. Temperature and humidity factors on male flowering phenology less than the female of the impact of flowering phenology.2. Pollen Storage of Carya illinoensisCarya illinoensis collected four varieties pollen in2009, acquisition of12vareites pollen pecans were stored at room temperature,4℃,-20℃three different temperatures, were determined by TTC staining pollen viability The results showed that:20%of the pollen viability as a standard, room temperature only about12to16days,4℃condition can be maintained to56days to63days,-20℃to achieve under the conditions of more than360days, save time the longest, so-20℃derived from this study was the best storage conditions. Storage under the4℃, the most resistant vareties was’Zhongshan25’, Wichitaw,-20℃storage conditions were the most resistant strains Western,Sauber.
