Porcine reproductive and respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) which caused by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a infectious disease with the characteristics of reproductive failure in pregnant sow, high mortality and respiratory symptom in piglets and fattening pigs. In this subject,3930serum samples were collected from4pig farms without vaccination and clinical manifestation around Nanning to monitor the PRRSV antibody titer by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), among which there are2986collecting in2010and the other944in2011. In the same time,20samples (5for each farm) collected from the same farms in2011were randomly detected by the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).All the indirect ELISA results revealed in the farms the average positive rate was78%(2320/2986), with the highest positive rate of89%and the lowest positive rate of62%in2010, while the average positive rate was60%(561/944) in2011, from48%to76%, indicating that all the pig farms had PRRSV infection from2010to2011. The RT-PCR result showed30%(6/20) of PRRSV detection rate in2011. In this study, the experimental results demonstrated that PRRSV existed widespreadly in the surrounding pig farms of Nanning. The infection rate was variant in different pig farms and different ages of pig herd. However, different parity sows had similar susceptibility and infection rate.
