Torreya grandis Merrillii, as an evergreen species of Torreya Arn of Taxaceae of gymnosperm, is a peculiarly precious and multipurpose dried fruit species with superior economic value. In the reality the common people don’t master the biological characteristics of Torreya grandis Merrillii and scientific and effective management measures,so the survival rate of juvenile Torreya is very low, which influences the further spread of Torreya planting. With the purpose of resolving the problems such as Torreya seeds planting techniques, seedling quality selection,nurture management at ordinary times, scientific and rational fertilization and the selection of planting modes, we establish a set of scientific and effective and practical technique system of juvinile Torreya. Thus we can provide technique support for a further popularization of Torreya industry.So this paper does a research on the building technique system especially on the key link of Torreya. The main results are listed as:1、The seedling quality influences Torreya growth. The seedling quality makes a signifcant influence on the growth of Torreya young forests.Grafting seedlings require high lignification,thick and full terminal buds.Choosing the vigorous and root well-developed strong seedlings is needed. The older the seedlings age is, the better the survival rate of afforestation gets.2、Site conditions influence the young growth establishment. Torreya prefer shady, which can be planted in place with an elevation of200-800m, pH value5-6.5and the deep and loosened sandy soils or limy windblown soils,and also requires a sloping fields with a good water draining, surrounded by mountains,gentle breeze and half the shady and sunny.3、cultivtion management influences the young growth establishment.The rational planting density is30plants per mu;planting hole,it is better big than small.It is must be shallow planting and casingsoil and avoiding fertilizer,also needs scientific fertilization and weeding, combat drought to protect seedlings and prevention of plant diseases and insect pests.4、 The selection of afforestation modes of Torreya.The key to success of Torreya cultivation is the control technique of canopy density of ecological cultivation.The best canopy density of Torreya which is planting under trees is0.4.Cultivation Torreya under trees can improve the survival rate by10.4%and increase increment by21.8%.Adopting the forms of mingled forest and interplanting other crops according to local conditions,and creating the different artificial communities which has the function of shading,it can reduce the investment of Torreya production and save investment by18.5%-30.7%by comparing to the cut-over land afforestation,meanwhile can also improve the survival rate of Torreya young growth.
