One problem of center pivot irrigation systems is that the corner area can’t be irrigated. The most common approach is to use a large part circle sprinkler placed on the end of the center pivot machines. Because modern center pivots are low-pressure spray, the pressure at the end of pipe line can’t meet the needs of a large sprinkler, so a booster pump often installed upstream of the sprinkler. Abroad pump does not match the voltage or the performance parameters of our machines. Also, it is expensive. There is no special booster pump in our country. And relevant research is lack. This article has analyzed the hydraulic characteristics of end sprinkler system, and develops the booster pump. The main contents and results are listed as follow:(1)Study the operation pattern of center pivot end sprinkler irrigation system. Set up the relationship between land utilization and end gun. It provides a theoretical basis for effective irrigation area calculation and gun selection.(2)Discuss changes of pump working condition when the end gun on and off. Analyze impact of end-flows on the distribution of the lateral. Analyze energy consumption combined with actual pumps.(3)A type spectrum of booster pump has been complete at the first time for common end sprinkler of China. It establishes a foundation for selecting a booster pump and developing new booster pumps.(4)On the basis of researching the flow characteristic of liquid in pump, an efficient hydraulic model has been developed. Then an experiment study has been carried out, too.(5)Laboratory test and field use shows that the booster pump performance parameters match the requirements of center pivot. And the pump is easy to install and reliable. The efficiency is high.
