It is generally recognized that soil and water conservation measures play an effective role in soil erosion control and prevention. In the long-term practice and governance, people have summarized a number of effective water conservation measures. Evaluating benefits of soil and water conservation measures provide scientific reference for the optimization and comprehensive management of soil and water conservation. Soil conservation measures benefit evaluation generally used runoff plots methodã€the soil and water conservation method and hydrological method. Physically based distributed hydrological model can fully consider effects of underlying surface and simulate hydrological process of the watershed. Evaluating benefits of soil and water conservation measures by physically based distributed hydrological model can overcome these shortcomings.Taking Youwuzhen watershed with serious erosion in red soil region of southern China as study area, SWAT distributed hydrological model is used for watershed soil erosion research and quantitative analysis evaluation of benefits from soil and water conservation measures on reducing runoff and sediments, which offer reference for the departments of soil and water conservationThe results were as follows:1) SWAT model was established for Youwuzhen watershed. The SWAT model was calibrated and validated mainly based on the typically available information. The result shows that the application of the model in study area is of higher adaptability.2) Benefits on reducing Runoff and sediments after the implementation of soil and water conservation measures were evaluated by the SWAT model.3) Runoff plots were used to calculate the runoff and sedimentation reduction percentage under different conservation practices.4) Choosing hydrological comparability watershed of the Youwuzhen based on the topographic index, the SWAT model is also used to predict runoff and sediment yield for an ungauged watershed in the area with model parameters transplantation method. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | SWAT model, runoff and sediment yield simulation, soil and waterconservation measures, benefits of runoff and sediment reduction, runoff plots, Youwuzhen watershed | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
