Wheat (Trticum aestivum) is the second largest of all the food in the world. China’swheat annual yield takes the first place in the world. Currently, the flour derived from thelarge-scale cultivated wheat varieties in china are less superior in quality, and most ofvarieties are short of foreign wheat grading standards. Modifying the wheat processingquality by transgenic technology, we can effectively improve the quality of wheat varietiesin China. This paper studies the agronomic and quality traits of genetically modified wheat, toexplore the practical significance of breeding new wheat varieties with transgenictechnology in China. The major findings are as follows:(1) We selected1Dx5and1Ax1gene in wheat, use B102-1-2and B72-8-11b as maleparent, excellent domestic wheat cultivars EM12as female parent, then make a backcrossafter hybridization. By SDS-PAGE, we analyzed the HMW-GS composition of BC1F6, andobtained8homozygous progeny (A~H). We scored the Glu-1quality of homozygousprogeny and found that homozygous progeny C and D have good processing quality.(2) Observing and recording the agronomic traits of the homozygous progeny, weanalyzed some traits of the8homozygous progeny with the Excel2003and Spss. The tillernumber, plant height and1000-grain weight are three important agronomic traits.Compared the traits with the parents, the results show that the homozygous progeny’straits are better than the traits of parents and it has no significant differences with theparents.(3) Using Mixograph to measure the flour traits of homozygous progeny, such asmidline peak time, midline peak height, the right of peak slope, width at peak and width at8and so on. The results show that the quality of homozygous progeny C and D wassignificantly better than parent EM12. After identification, we are sure that the twohomozygous progeny are high-quality transgenic varieties. Through transgenic technology combined with traditional hybridization methods, wecan short the breeding cycle of wheat and provide a new way for breeding new geneticallymodified the varieties of wheat.
