A simple and reliable analytical method for carbaryl residue in cabbage and soil has beendeveloped in this study. The dissipation dynamic and terminal residue were also studied anddiscussed. Meanwhile we conducted an assessment of dietary risk for carbaryl on cabbage. Inaddition, the storage stability of the standard solution of carbaryl was studied in this paper andsuitable condition of storage was suggested.Liquid chromatography-thiple quadrupole mass spectometer was used to analysisresidues of carbaryl and metabolites in cabbage and soil. Residues of carbaryl and metaboliteswere extracted from cabbage and soil with acetonitrile and cleaned up with PSA. In theadditional level of0.02,0.1,0.2mg/kg, the average recoveries were from97.39%to101.43%,with relative standard deviations from2.6%to4.6%in cabbage. The average recoveries werefrom90.19%to98.76%, with relative standard deviations from1.7%to3.4%in soil. Themethod met the demand for pesticide residue analysis. The field trials of5%carbaryl suspension residue and dissipation in cabbage and soilwere carried out in Beijing, Hubei and Zhejiang in2010and2011. In the base of residueanalysis method, we compared the degradation dynamics and its metabolites of carbaryl incabbage and soil in Beijing, Hubei and Zhejiang. The half-lives and safe interval period ofcarbaryl in cabbage were concluded. The residues of carbaryl in cabbage were below2.0mg/kg.According to the above results of residue in cabbage, the estimated STMR was0.1040mg/kg. The suggested MRL was2mg/kg. Combined with per capita intake of food of urbanand rural residents in our country, the calculation results showed that the content of carbarylresidues in cabbage is in the body acceptable range. The residues level in the cabbage wouldnot be harm to the human body and met the demand for dietary safety risk assessment duringthis study. This paper also studied the storage stability of the standard solution of carbaryl. Thedifferent concentration of carbaryl standard solution stored under the condition of roomtemperature,4℃and-20℃for0days,7days,14days,21days,30days,50days,100days.The study data for the stability of carbaryl showed that below20degree was the best storagetemperature. For this low temperature condition prevented the decomposition of the carbarylin cabbage and standard solutions. It was ensure the accuracy of the experimental results.
