The minimal invasiveness of the procedure, rapid patient recovery, and diagnostic accuracymake laparoscopy an ideal technique. Laparoscopy has not only developed into a diagnostic toolbut, more recently, has also become a means for minimally invasive surgical procedures inanimals.Cystostomy, provides a method for temporary or permanent diversion of urine.laparoscopic cystostomy has been reported in dogs、horses and sheep. In pigs, the describedsurgical approach for a cystostomy is via a celiotomy. We unaware of a reported method forlaparoscopic cystostomy in miniature pigs. So the objectives of this study were to prove thefeasibility of Laparoscopic cystostomy in miniature pigs, and compared with open cystostomy.12healthy miniature pigs were selected and randomly divided into two groups,Laparoscopic Cystostomy group and Open Cystostomy group. Establishment ofpneumoperitoneum, entering into cannulas and instruments, creating a cystopexy and installedthe Foley catheter to perform laparoscopic cystostomy. Two groups was monitored during theoperation with intensive care monitor and respiratory monitor and were recorded at the time ofbefore the operation, after anesthesia,intraoperative10,30,60min and postoperativeimmediately, and then analyzed the physiological impact which surgery produced. The conditionof pain and postoperative complications of both groups were evaluated, and veinal blood wascollected at preoperative and postoperative, postoperative4h,1,2,3,5and7d. Stress of twogroups were contrasted after operations. All miniature pigs underwent follow-up laparoscopy onabdominal adhesions1month later. All operations were completed successfully, LC was with the mean operative time of85min, the average incision of2cm. OC with80min and12cm. The intraoperativ heartrate, blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation in LC was higher than the OC, there was nosignificant differences, but the intraoperative laparoscopic respiratory rate and end-tidal carbondioxide partial pressure was higher than the open surgery group, there was significantdifferences. In all miniature pigs, the urine drained off the urinary catheter, accidental Foleycatheter dislodgment or damage did not occur, and there was no indication in any miniature pigsof intraperitoneal urine leakage during Foley catheter placement. VAS pain scores of LC groupwas significantly lower than that in OC group. The influence to the immune stress in LC wassignificantly lower than the OC. Postoperative abdominal adhesions in LC was significantly lessthan the OC. laparoscopic cystostomy was a safe and feasible technique. After analysising the conditionof pain and adhesions, stress, LC has more advantages, less effects than OC, and recover faster.
