In this paper, the Phyllostachys pubescens bamboo bundles was chosen as the raw material in this study. And the bamboo was thermal treated with different temperature(140℃.160℃,180℃and200℃) and different time(0.5h、1h、2'3h). And the color, EMC, FTIR, cellulosecrystallity, the sugar in the bamboo and the physical-mechanical properties of reconstituted bamboo lumber were examined in this study, and result were summarized as follows:1. Dry-thermal treatment can make the color of bamboo bundle darker and get different decoration. And the lightness and yellow-blue value of bamboo bundles significantly decrease with increasing temperature and duration time, while the red-green value varied irregularly, EMC also become lower. In this study, thermal treatment can decrease the lightness yellow-blue value and EMC of bamboo bundles up to66.28%,63.36%and41.94%.2. Dry-thermal treatment can make the EMC of bamboo bundles down apparently. In this study, the EMC of bamboo bundles were measured respectively in three circumstance(room;25℃and RH35%;25℃and RH90%),and the EMC get down41.94%,54.79%and48.29%. The FTIR analysis showed that with the temperature rising and time extension, the hydroxyl groups reduced obviously and the intensity of absorption of carbonyl decreased slightly.3. Dry-thermal treatment didn’t have a significant influence on the location of diffraction peak of002crystal plane in the cellulose. However, the cellulose crystallity presented a growth trend with the extension time and temperature.4. Dry-thermal treatment could have the sugar in the bamboo down obviously as a result improve the bamboo product’s corrosion prevention and anti insect; and the processing temperature had a bigger influence on the content of sugar than time; At the same dry-thermal condition, the content of sugar extracted by hot water was bigger than the content extracted by cool water; and the content of sugar extracted by cool water got down with the increasing of temperature, while the content extracted by hot water increased but the change was little.5. With the temperature increasing and time extension, the TS and WA of reconstituted bamboo lumber got down generally, and the dimension stability improved. At the same time, the MOR and IB got down generally while the MOE didn’t change apparently.
