Using the Epi data software to build thedatabase and using SPSS17.0. to analyze data. The statistic methods used in thisresearch including statistic descriptions, t Test, analysis of variance, χ~2test, single factor logistic regression and multivariate logistic regression.Results:1.The prevalence of pre-hypertension: The prevalence of pre-hypertension was32.5%in927science&educational middle-aged intellectuals (male462, female465).The incidence of pre-hypertension in male were38.1%and26.9%in female, the rate of pre-hypertension in male was clearly higher than that of female(P<0.0001).Both men and women between the ages of35to49, with increasingage, the incidence of pre-hypertension showed a gradual upward trend, but whenover50years old, the incidence of pre-hypertension showed a downward trend. The incidence of pre-hypertension was positively with increasing age (OR:1.065,95%CI:1.023~1.109), male (OR:1.648,95%CI:1.035~2.625), familyhistory of hypertension (OR:3.170,95%CI:2.203~4.563), current smoking(OR:1.891,95%CI:1.117~3.200), no noontime snooze habits (OR:1.774,95%CI:1.193~2.639), overweight (OR:2.615,95%CI:1.689~4.048), overweight(OR:2.366,95%CI:1.052~5.302) and obesity (OR:2.787,95%CI:1.771~4.388).2.Health promotion lifestyle Status of science&educational middle-agedintellectuals: In our study, the mean score of the overall HPLP-Ⅱof science&educational middle-aged intellectuals in Shaanxi province was (131.56±21.16),after normalized, the score was(131.56±21.16). Overall, the lifestyle of science&educational middle-aged intellectuals was at a good level. The scores of sixsubscales ranked from high to low were spiritual growth, internationalrelationships, nutrition, stress management, health responsibility and physicalactivity, and significant difference was found among subscales (P<0.0001). Whenwe separately analyzed the data from male and female subjects, female scores ofnormotensive group, pre-hypertensive group and hypertensive group were higher than that of male in international relationships and Health responsibility(P<0.05).3.Health promotion lifestyle Status of science&educational middle-agedintellectuals with pre-hypertension: Both in the overall HPLP-Ⅱand the sixhealth-promoting lifestyle subscales, pre-hypertensive group showed significantlylower scores than normotensive group (p<0.05). A negative correlation was foundbetween blood pressure and health-promoting lifestyle (systolic pressureSpearman’s r=0.279,P<0.01; diastolic pressure Spearman’s r=0.227,P<0.01).Conclusions:1. The occurrence rate of pre-hypertension is higher among middle-agedintellectuals in Shaanxi province and it had many risk factors. For40to49-year-old, smoking, with the family history of essential hypertension,overweight/obesity, male science&educational middle-aged intellectuals shouldbe concerned about their own blood pressure, as soon as possible to takepreventive measures.2. It is necessary to elevate the health-promoting lifestyle level of science&educational middle-aged intellectuals in Shaanxi. Physical activitiy remain in thespotlight, and for males, the health responsibility and interpersonal supportshould be strengthened and upgrade.3. Compared with normotensive subjects, the health promoting lifestyle level ofpre-hypertensive subjects was poor. These results suggest that health departmentshould accentuate the importance of nutrition, physical activities which wereevery known method and should put emphasis on international relationships, stress management and health responsibility when they work out the healtheducation plans and Carry out activities to promote health.
