Objective:Thyroid hormone is one of the essential hormones playing key roles in theprocess of development, growth, metabolisms and reproductions of humanbeings. Sub-clinical hypothyroidism is hard to discover because of lackingevident expresstions.20years after being treat for the first time,40%of patientswith sub-clinical hypothyroidism would turn to clinical hypothyroidism,especially those over60years old. Ovary tumor is one of the three commonmalignant carcinomas. Due to insufficient sensitive diagnostic standards,70%of the patients were in late stage when discovered for the first time. Themortality is as high as70%. Ovary cancer is becoming a more and more seriousthreatening to women’s health. FSH, LH and FSH levels rise up aftermenopause, especially that FSH can reach15times higher than before,therefore post-menopause was regarded as a dangerous period to suffer ovarycancer. Ryan et al., pointed in their clinical researches that TSH is more likelyto bind with FSHR whose sensibilities to FSH will be increased after beingstimulated. TSH can also play a role same as what FSH did after binding withFSH to increase plasma FSH concentration. Syed et al. identified that high levelFSH promotes growth of ovary surface epithelial cells that let them more easilyturn to cancer cells. In conclusion, the hypothyroidism do involved in theetiology of ovary cancer. This review will clearly reveal the relationshipbetween ovary cancer and hypothyroidism by quantity of clinical watches andresearches. The thyroid hormone levels of48ovary tumor patients and25normal controls will be detected and the correlations will be conducted throughstatistic calculations.Method: 48ovary cancer case reports during the period form Sep,2010to Feb,2012were collected from2ndhospital of Jilin University(experimental group).25non ovary tumor patients (including those with uterine fibroids, adenomyosis,cervical cancer, uterine prolapse and pelvic inflammation)(control) staying inthe hospital during the same period were chosen randomly as normal controls.Plasma levels of TSH, T4, T3, free T4and free T3were tested. None of theovary tumor patients have history of thyroidectomy. Ages of tumor patientsrange from17to76and those of controls range from23to71. And48ovarycancer cases were divided into three groups according to the level of TSH:(1)TSH≤0.3mIU/L (hyperthyroidism),1case,19years old (2)0.3<TSH<2.5mIU/L (normal),17cases, average age42.78±16.96(3) TSH≥2.5mIU/L(hypothyroidism),30cases, average age44.73±13.70.The levels of thyroidhormone (including FT3, FT4, TT3, TT4, TSH) were tested for each group.Results:The level of TSH of experimental group is much higher than that ofnormal, the level of FT3、FT4andTT4of the normal group were obviouslylower than tumor group,The difference has statistical significance (P<0.05).Compared with hyperthyroidism group and normal group, there is no statisticmeaning. TSH level of hyperthyroidism is much lower than that of group. Thedifference has statistical significance (P<0.05). The levels of FT3, FT4, TT3and TT4were much lower than that of normal, and the difference has statisticalsignificance (P<0.05).Conclusion:The ovarian tumor is related to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism would beincrease the risk of ovarian tumor.
